Helotes – 11 miles
The small town of Helotes, is home to the iconic John T Floore Country Store, which has been the host of many iconic artists over the years, such as Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, B.B. King, Patsy Cline and many more. Locals claim that John T Floore’s is one of the best live music venues in the Texas Hill Country, and the legendary Willie Nelson still plays and packs this indoor and outdoor venue. Boerne – 30 miles
The charming town of Boerne (pronounced “Bernie”) is home to the Cibolo Nature Center, popular for birding and hiking, Enchanted Springs Ranch, a wild-west theme park and old western town, and two natural living caves – Cave Without A Name and Cascade Caverns. Located just 40 minutes from the resort, Boerne provides a fun day-trip area for those looking to explore the Texas Hill Country.
Bandera – 40 miles
Located approximately 50 minutes from the resort, Bandera, Texas is known world-wide as the Cowboy Capital. The city boasts many popular “Dude Ranches”, which provide a hands-on experience of cowboy life through horseback riding, chuck wagon meals, and trail rides. One of the most popular in the area is Mayan Ranch, however there are many in the area that you can choose from for your cowboy experience.
New Braunfels – 40 miles
The city of New Braunfels is home to a large number of German Texan’s, and celebrates its German heritage with festivals, Bier Gardens and dancing to oompah music. In addition to all of that excitement, New Braunfels is also located near the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers, as well as Sclitterbahn WaterPark, offering opportunities for tubing and other water fun. Landa Park is another must-see for visitors of this Hill Country town, with its giant Ancient Oak Trees, hiking trails, fishing pier, miniature train ride and much more.
Comfort – 47 miles
The small Hill Country town of Comfort, TX is centrally located between Fredericksburg, Boerne and Kerrville, just an hour drive from the resort. Here you can enjoy camping, fishing, swimming, antique shopping and more. Unwind with some wine tasting at Bending Branch winery, or the more adventurous might want to try the locally made and flavored Texas Moonshine at Hill Country Distillers.
Gruene – 50 miles
The small town of Gruene (pronounced “Green”), has a population of only 20, yet has been said to be the best spot to visit in the Texas Hill Country for antique and music lovers, dining enthusiasts, hunters and more. It is home to the famous Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas, where country music legends such as Willie Nelson and George Strait have performed, as well as the popular Grist Mill Restaurant, which overlooks the Guadalupe River.
Kerrville – 64 miles
The “unofficial capital” of Texas Hill Country, Kerrville is known for excellent museums, theaters, art galleries, shopping and more. It is the home of the annual Texas State Arts and Crafts Fair, as well as the Kerrville Folk Festival each spring. It’s location on the beautiful Guadalupe River provides many opportunities for recreational activities such as boating, fishing, birding and hunting.
Fredericksburg – 70 miles
Just over an hour away you’ll find one of the most popular towns in the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg. From its German heritage and traditions to its delicious local peaches and wines, Fredericksburg truly has something for everyone. Enjoy wine tasting at their 14 wineries, pick your own peaches from one of their orchards, or browse through over 150 unique boutiques and shops. Nearby Enchanted Rock is a beautiful and popular place for hiking, biking, rock climbing and much more.
